Marvel's co-creator appearing on screen in adaptations of his own characters — a hot dog vendor, a bus driver, a security guard, a Xandarian librarian. The run began with a jury foreman role in a 1989 Hulk television film, became a fixture from X-Men and Spider-Man onward, and continued posthumously through cameos filmed in advance. The films eventually made the joke canon by implying the same man keeps turning up, which is the rare case of an easter egg being promoted to plot.
