Who we are
The Things You Missed (https://thethingsyoumissed.com) is operated from Denmark. For any privacy matter, contact privacy@thethingsyoumissed.com. The site operator is the data controller for the processing described here.
What we collect, why, and on what legal basis
- Aggregated usage statistics (Vercel Web Analytics) — cookieless, no personal identifiers stored, used to understand overall traffic. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).
- Google Analytics 4— only after you accept it via the cookie banner. Measures which pages and features are used (e.g. which easter eggs get revealed). IPs are not logged by GA4; data retention is set to 14 months. Legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), withdrawable at any time via "Cookie settings" in the footer.
- Newsletter email address — only if you subscribe; used solely to send the newsletter; every email includes an unsubscribe link. Legal basis: consent.
- Server logs — standard technical logs (IP, user agent) kept by our hosting provider for security, retained 30–90 days. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
- YouTube embeds — trailers load only after you click play (youtube-nocookie.com). At that point Google may set cookies under its own policy.

Who receives data
Vercel Inc. (hosting & cookieless analytics), Google Ireland/LLC (GA4, YouTube — only after consent/interaction), TMDB (serves poster imagery when pages load), and our newsletter provider (only your email, only if subscribed). Transfers to US providers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your rights
Under GDPR you can request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and object to processing. You can withdraw analytics consent anytime via "Cookie settings" in the footer. Complaints can be lodged with Datatilsynet (Carl Jacobsens Vej 35, 2500 Valby, Denmark — dt@datatilsynet.dk), though we'd appreciate the chance to resolve issues first at privacy@thethingsyoumissed.com.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We'll update this page when practices change and adjust the "last updated" date above. Significant changes to consent scope re-trigger the banner.
