The mid-credits scene jumps forward four years. Sue Storm is on the couch reading to Franklin, now a small boy. H.E.R.B.I.E. proposes Darwin's On the Origin of Species; Sue goes to fetch something lighter. She comes back to find her son standing face to face with a figure in a heavy green cloak, lowered to Franklin's height, a silver mask held in one hand. The face is never shown. It does not need to be — this is Doctor Doom, entering the MCU by walking into a nursery and reaching for the most powerful child in the multiverse, and a closing card names the destination: Avengers: Doomsday.

Staging that reveal as a domestic intrusion rather than a throne-room monologue is the smartest decision in the sequence. Everything the film has established about Franklin — that Galactus wanted him, that the Baxter Building could not keep him — reloads in a single shot.

After the credits finish, the register flips completely.
