What plays over the credits instead
Supergirl has no post-credit scene and no mid-credit scene. Once the film cuts to black, that is genuinely the end of it. There is no stinger tucked into the middle of the crawl, no Krypto gag at the very bottom of the card, and not even the illustrated or animated credits sequence that DC and Marvel films usually use to keep an audience seated. Multiple outlets that stayed to the last frame on opening weekend — Looper and SlashFilm among them — confirm the credits are conventional white type on a black background from first card to last. If you are checking your watch, you can stand up the moment the picture ends.
The interesting part is why, because the film very nearly had one. The scene that closes the movie — Kara arriving at Clark Kent's Metropolis apartment to tell him she is sticking around, in the same apartment set used for Lois and Clark in Superman (2025) — was originally conceived as the post-credits stinger. Craig Gillespie has said the team weighed placing it after the crawl and ultimately decided it played better as the film's actual final beat. The tease, in other words, was promoted into the story. That decision also reads as a course correction: the two stingers on Superman (2025) were widely criticised for being jokes rather than setup, and DC Studios chose not to repeat the exercise here.
There is one loose thread. Reports circulated that a post-credits scene existed at the test-screening stage and was cut before the final version locked, but nobody involved has confirmed or denied it, and roughly ten minutes came out of the film overall — mostly from the middle stretch of the road trip. Treat it as unverified.
None of this means the ending is a dead end. Kara's choice to stay on Earth is the setup, and it pays off in Man of Tomorrow, the Superman sequel scheduled for 9 July 2027, in which she is confirmed to appear. The film simply makes you watch the last five minutes to get it rather than the last thirty seconds.
