The Things You Missed

Does Zootopia 2 have a post-credit scene?

2025 · Jared Bush, Byron Howard · 108 min

The answer

Yes — 1 post-credit scene

One scene, after the full credit scroll. In Judy's apartment, Nick returns her repaired carrot pen with a recorded message — "Love ya, partner" — which she replays until the neighbors complain. As she walks away, a feather drifts onto the windowsill, teasing that birds (absent from Zootopia so far, like reptiles were before this film) are the hook for Zootopia 3. Also stay alert during the credits themselves: a three-eyed cat teases Disney's next film, Hexed.

What actually happens

One, and it sits at the very end of a long Disney Animation credit scroll. There is no mid-credits scene, so settle in.

The scene is small and domestic on purpose. Judy is back in her apartment holding the carrot-shaped recorder pen that has been a running object since the first film. Nick has had it repaired and left a message on it — "Love ya, partner." She plays it. She plays it again. Her perpetually arguing next-door neighbours start yelling through the wall about it, and she yells back. Then she heads out, the room empties, and a single feather drifts down onto the windowsill while something rustles just off-screen.

That feather is the entire point. Zootopia's premise has always quietly excluded whole classes of animal — the first film had no reptiles at all, which is exactly what this sequel builds its plot around — so a bird's feather is a promise about who gets a district next. The film plants the confirmation elsewhere too: the sticky note glimpsed on a computer monitor reads P@Rt3izFr&BrdZr2, which fans decoded within days of release as "Part 3 is for real and birds are too." Director Jared Bush and producer Yvett Merino have both said they kept the scene deliberately vague, and it worked exactly as intended — the internet did the announcing for them.

One more thing hides in the credits, and it is not a scene. Shortly before the closing castle logo, a stylised three-eyed grinning cat passes through the credit art. That is a character from Hexed, Disney Animation's next feature, due Thanksgiving 2026 — the studio's long-standing habit of trailing its next film inside the current one's credits.

So: one post-credits scene, worth the wait, plus a second easter egg for anyone actually reading the names.
