Real mathematics written into props, signage and serial numbers by writers' rooms stocked with doctorates: a taxicab number stamped on a hull, an apartment door numbered in binary ASCII, a cinema advertising an infinite number of screens, a near-miss counterexample to Fermat's Last Theorem engineered so it survives a pocket calculator. What distinguishes these from ordinary background gags is that they are verifiable rather than merely alluded to — the punchline belongs to whoever is willing to do the arithmetic, and the writers know exactly who that is.
