The novelist, cartoonist, showrunner or game designer whose work is being adapted appearing inside the adaptation. Stephen King has done it repeatedly in adaptations of his own books, and the practice runs from comics artists in superhero films to the original series' creator in a reboot. It reads as an author signing off on the translation, and it is usually staged so that removing the person would cost the scene nothing.
